For me Home is knowing a place by the light and the landscape, the rocks, the plants, the weather, the changing moods, and familiarity with humanity’s position within these elements. Through observations and exploration I have been working to know this place I now call home. My efforts are an attempt to understand it more deeply so that when I say, "this is home,” the statement means something akin to my understanding of the concept. For most of my life the concept of home was based on familiarity with the region where I grew up, southern New Jersey. Humboldt County, is superbly different. To guide my efforts toward familiarity I focus on a number of conceptual themes. These themes include Pathways, Observed interaction, Trunks and Stumps, Vistas, Mood, Object in Hand, Explorations Along Pacific Shores, and others often in combination.
